On October 16, 2025, we had the pleasure of participating in the Girls' Technology Congress, an event for female students in grades 7 through 12 from Berlin and Brandenburg. The congress gives young women the opportunity to explore science and technology through hands-on laboratory experiments, inspiring discussions with experts from research and industry, and guided tours of the Technology Park Adlershof.
In our workshop, "LEGO Interferometer for Quantum Technologies," Dr. Adrian Mahlkow took students from grades 9 and 10 on an engaging journey into the world of quantum physics. Using simple materials and a playful, hands-on approach, he demonstrated how complex physical principles can be made accessible and easy to understand.
What stood out most was the participants' curiosity and enthusiasm. They eagerly experimented, asked insightful questions, and discussed future opportunities in science and technology.
"It was inspiring to see how motivated these young talents were. The workshop was a great example of how hands-on experimentation and direct interaction can spark young people's interest in engineering and science." said Dr. Mahlkow.
The Girls' Technology Congress clearly demonstrates the importance of introducing students to technical careers at an early stage and highlights how inspiring direct engagement with research and technology can be.
