Red Pitaya Shines at the Elektra Awards 2025: Highly Commended Among Industry Giants

Two days ago, the electronics community gathered in London for the Elektra Awards 2025 — one of Europe’s most prestigious celebrations of engineering excellence. This year, Red Pitaya stood proudly among some of the biggest and most influential names in the industry, earning recognition in not one, but two major award categories.

And we’re thrilled to share that Red Pitaya received a Highly Commended award in the Educational Support category — a powerful acknowledgment of our commitment to empowering the next generation of engineers, researchers, and innovators.

Standing shoulder-to-shoulder with global engineering leaders

In the Design Team of the Year category, we found ourselves alongside heavyweights whose influence spans satellites, semiconductors, and advanced analytics. Teams from Siemens EDA (Tessent), STMicroelectronics’ MEMS design group, Celestia UK, and EECL were all shortlisted — with Celestia UK taking home the award for their Satellite Gateway design.

That’s remarkable company to be in. These organisations represent decades of engineering leadership, billion-dollar product portfolios, and global R&D ecosystems. For Red Pitaya to stand among them signals how far we've come as a compact, agile, innovation-focused team punching far above its weight in test, measurement, and FPGA-driven design.

A moment we’re especially proud of: Highly Commended in Educational Support

While we didn’t take home the trophy in Design Team of the Year, the night held something even more meaningful:

Red Pitaya was awarded Highly Commended in the Educational Support Award category.

We shared this stage with respected organisations including RISC-V International, Rapid Electronics, and Advanced Rework Technology, with Academy Achievers ultimately winning the category for their important work.

For us, this recognition means everything. Education and accessibility are at the heart of Red Pitaya’s mission — the belief that advanced instrumentation and FPGA-based learning shouldn’t be locked behind expensive lab equipment, but placed directly in the hands of students, researchers, and inventors around the world.

From our open-source ecosystem to our university partnerships to our growing portfolio of teaching resources and hands-on FPGA courses, we’ve worked hard to remove barriers and help tomorrow’s engineers build real-world skills. Being celebrated among global names like RISC-V International highlights the real impact this work is having.

A milestone for our team — and our community

What stood out most at the Elektra Awards wasn’t just the competition, but the company:
global semiconductor leaders, satellite engineering specialists, international standards bodies, and educational organisations with long-standing reputations.

To stand among them — and to be recognised — sends a strong signal about Red Pitaya’s growing role in the electronics engineering landscape. It shows that accessible, open, high-performance tools are not only relevant, but reshaping how engineering education and R&D are done.

And none of this would be possible without our team, our academic partners, our student community, and the thousands of engineers around the world who choose Red Pitaya to learn, prototype, explore, and innovate.

This Highly Commended recognition is yours as much as ours.

Here’s to a fantastic year ahead — and many more milestones to come.
